An Introduction to Our Past and Present…

Years ago, a career as a qualified private investigator or security professional was a dream many people only imagined but were unable to achieve. The reason was simple -- there was no institution where one could enrol to learn the methods, systems and techniques of the professional private investigator.

In 1980, the Canadian School of Private Investigation and Security Ltd. (CSPI) was registered and approved as a private vocational school under the Private Vocational Schools Act. CSPI pioneered a new direction for the industry, and enjoys the distinction of being the first and foremost serious academic institution in Canada devoted specifically towards training individuals for careers within the private sector of law enforcement. Since its inception, CSPI has continued to deliver consistently high quality education and guidance to thousands of men and women who have walked through our doors and into a more exciting and challenging future.

Large Campus and Full Training Facilities

Today, the experience we've gained in the field of specialized law enforcement training ensures our students continue receiving outstanding educational value, quality and timeliness. For example, we've focused our ability to systemize our courses and options by maintaining one single campus. Our facilities have grown to occupy over 10,000 square feet of training, administration and lab space. Our campus includes large comfortable classrooms, a student lounge, full darkroom facilities and a full scale courtroom for an added dimension of realism in our legal procedures training.

Teachers Who Are Industry Experts

An important ingredient in CSPI's success is the experience and expertise of our instructors. The school's founder and principle instructor is a former Police Detective with a background spanning nearly five decades of experience -- both in the public and private sectors. Our legal department is headed by a senior Lawyer and our academic staff is drawn from the investigation, intelligence and security communities. In fact, all our staff members provide their time and special skills towards ensuring the highest level of competence and satisfaction possible for every graduate of CSPI.
